Harvest time in Harbor Country
It's harvest time in Harbor Country - our little corner of Southwest Michigan. While the weather turns cooler, the leaves change color, and we start thinking about the upcoming holidays it's easy to look past the great bounty that autumn in Michigan has to offer.
Locally grown produce has been a popular subject this season with unseasonable weather greeting us earlier this spring. But we are lucky enough to still have a great crop of harvest time favorites! From butternut and acorn squash to beautiful pumpkins - from kale and cabbage to honeycrisp apples - fresh local produce isn't just for spring and summer.
What else does harvest time mean? Color! Purple cabbage, bittersweet vines, and of course gourds, pumpkins, Indian corn, and more will thrive all through the season. Try adding some pansies or mums and your yard will be picture perfect all autumn long.
Whether you treat yourself with some unique fall decor, spruce up your backyard with colorful autumnal flare, or savor the flavors of farm-fresh produce this time of year, have a happy harvest and enjoy the fall season!
